All ways to get involved
We have many plans and without you we would not be able to implement them. We divide them into urgent, medium-term and long-term. You will most often hear about the urgent ones through our social media or regular newsletter. The medium-term ones focus on improving the running of our programmes in Kenya, such as improving the children's diet or organising educational workshops at the community centre. Our long-term future plans are two projects in particular: the construction of a secondary school to build on top of the primary school already built and the construction of a tailor shop. If you are interested in our work and would like to support it, please consider the following options:

1) Donate to the transparent account
You can contribute any amount to our transparent account. The account number is 2501302196 / 2010. Every penny counts and we are deeply grateful for any amount. If you need a donation receipt issued for tax purposes, let us know, we will be happy to provide.

2) Join the Friends of Rael Club
If you would like to help us on a regular basis, please join the Friends of Rael club. Your regular contributions will simplify future planning and make the day-to-day running of our programs much easier. For example, with stable funding, we can ensure that fruit is regularly purchased from local farmers to improve the children's diets. In addition, by joining the club you will receive several benefits. Read more HERE.

3) Help us with the production of gift items
We regularly hold lectures not only about adventure travel to Africa, but also about the project and volunteering itself. Not only at these events, but also on our e-shop, gift items with the Rael logo are then available for purchase. One hundred percent of the proceeds from sales go to the project. Do you have the opportunity to print us t-shirts with the logo, badges, flyers, pens, fan items for the Unga United team or other small items? Let us know!

4) Spread the word about Project Rael
Do you know of a company that would like to donate to a good cause, but doesn't know which one? Do you have friends who could help? Share our site, spread awareness about Project Rael, and do your part to help us thrive in Kenya. Your support is crucial for us.

5) Become a sponsor of a specific child
As Project Rael grows, so does the number of orphans and children from the poorest families who cannot afford to study. We now have more than 80 children in the program and more are being added as time goes on. Distance adoption is all about financially supporting a particular child on his or her educational journey. Without a good education, the child has no chance of getting a job and living a full life as an adult. Read more HERE.

6) Become a patron of an educational workshop
We would like to start special workshops for widowed women to help participants overcome a difficult life situation. The cost of a one-time one-day workshop is 1000 crowns. However, it would be ideal if more of them could be held, ideally perhaps with some regularity, as is the case with the sex education workshops we already run. The community centre can accommodate up to 40 participants. We will use the patron's donation to buy light refreshments for them and pay for professional trainers.

7) Donate English books
Our library is now about half full, so it is clear what the main goal is - to have it full. We are looking for any type of book, for children and adults, educational books and fiction. But they must be completely in English. Of course, we also appreciate financial contributions to purchase Swahili books in Kenya. In the case of such a donation, please indicate this designation in the payment note. We will then send you a photo of exactly what we have purchased for the library with your donation.

8) Go to Kenya to help in person
You can also help by going directly to Kenya to work as a volunteer. We are looking for volunteers for the community centre, football club, school and nursery. Please contact us for more information.

9) Visit our e-shop
There is no e-shop like our e-shop. It's very special because you can buy specific gifts that will have a specific impact in Kenya. An example would be a $4 meal voucher that buys lunch at a community café for the poorest seniors in our rural area. You can also buy a chicken, a sleeping kit for a widow or dental treatment for a child. In addition to these items, there are also products under the Rael brand in the e-shop, be it our own coffee, T-shirts or pancakes. You can also purchase African jewellery, with the proceeds from the sales again going solely to the running of the project.

10) Become part of Team Rael
Last but not least, you can also get involved by joining the project's closest leadership – Team Rael. We are currently looking for someone to focus on fundraising, i.e. intensive fundraising for the project, within their time constraints. Unfortunately, money comes first in our project. You will play an absolutely key role in the team. You will be contacting companies and individuals, looking for new partners, applying for grants. The success of the whole project, especially its future expansion and improvement, will depend on your work. The benefit of the good feeling and smiles of Kenyan children will not pass you by!
More about Friends of Rael
We would like to move the Rael project up a few more rungs, provide better pay for the teachers and better food for the children. The Friends of Rael Club makes all this possible. Thanks to their regular donations, the Friends of Rael give us a guarantee that we know what we can count on in the future and what else we don't have to be afraid to invest in.

In return, we offer you a kind of privilege. You'll be able to buy items from our e-shop for a little bit cheaper, and we'll plan reunions and give each of you a certificate to prove that you care about what's going on in the world. In addition, the children in kindergarten and school like to draw cute pictures for the Friends of Rael.

To join the club, fill out the simple form below. Enter your contact details and choose one of three amounts to support the running of the project each month. Of course, you can cancel your regular payment order at any time. Thank you. Support Project Rael
How child sponsorship works
The programme to support orphans and children from the poorest families was created hand in hand with the opening of the kindergarten. Our goal from the beginning was to make education accessible to all, regardless of social status or disadvantage. In order to pay the teachers' salaries and the children's food, the children's parents pay a monthly fee. For those who cannot afford even a small tuition fee, we allow them to pay in produce, such as fruit or vegetables from their own gardens. And for those who cannot pay at all, we look for individual supporters in the Czech Republic and abroad. To date, donors have enabled more than 80 children to attend school and kindergarten.

We include those whose biological or surrogate family cannot afford to pay school fees in our programme to support orphans and children from the poorest families. There may be several reasons. Some of the children who have lost one or both parents for various reasons are being raised by grandmothers, neighbours or more distant relatives. The grandmothers simply do not have enough energy to do the hard work, and the neighbours and other relatives do not have enough money. We also have children in the program who have parents. But they are often disabled, both physically and mentally, and it is often impossible for them to do even simple work. In these cases, it is typical that they still somehow manage to provide basic food and survive. However, school fees are beyond their means and the children are left at home. In addition, these children are often exposed to heavy manual labour from an early age.

Our program radically changes children's lives for the better. In addition to a quality education, they receive a quality meal twice daily, which we constantly try to improve. In orphans and the poorest families, it is typical for children to either go hungry at home or eat only one or two ingredients over and over again. There is a complete lack of vitamins of any kind. Often, they also have nowhere to sleep. They sleep on the floor, on chairs or broken chairs. We, therefore, enable sponsors to support their children beyond the school fees by purchasing a sleeping pack. This includes a new mattress, blanket, pillow, sheets and mosquito net. The mosquito net is crucial as it protects the children at night from mosquitoes that carry malaria and other diseases.

In addition to school, the children have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities such as a dance club or the Unga United FC youth football team. We want to support the children for as long as it takes. We are therefore looking for sponsors who are willing to support their child, if possible, all the way to high school and, who knows, maybe even beyond. However, this commitment is not a requirement.

How does it work?

Our Dolphine and Kennedy coordinators, in collaboration with the local community, will first assess the child's situation and determine if it is indeed such that it makes it impossible for the family to send the child to school. If this is the case, and the child is interested in attending school, they will send the child's details to Honza, who is in charge of this programme within Team Rael. The child will undergo further assessment. For example, we often enquire about his health situation or how he lost his parents. We also find out if he has a place to sleep. Last but not least, we then need to check whether we still have the capacity in the school and kindergarten to accept the child. However, we do not shy away from situations, especially with older children, where it is appropriate for the child to attend another school. Even in this case, we can support the child.

A sponsor is sought if the child goes through the whole approval process. We have sponsors mainly in the Czech Republic and the United States, but we can also find them in Slovakia or in Africa itself. If a sponsor agrees to support a particular child, they send the tuition fees for that year, and we issue an order to Kenya that the child is accepted into the program and can start school. The tuition fee is $170 per year. The entire amount goes directly to the child to pay for tuition and board; no one else takes a penny of it.

The sponsorship, which is, in fact, a kind of long-distance adoption, does not have to stop at paying school fees or tuition. If you choose, you can do much more.

What else can you do?

From time to time, it is possible to send a gift to your little girl or boy. This is always possible when a group of volunteers goes to Kenya. For example, stationery, notebooks, pencil cases, other school supplies, toys, clothes, or shoes are suitable. However, the weight of the parcel must not exceed 2 kilos and must clearly state the child's name.

Volunteers visit the children in their homes, checking their school attendance and health, delivering gifts and finding out what else they might need. Usually, this is a pair of shoes or a backpack for school, but sometimes, it's a sleeping mattress or a new school uniform.

As a thank you, the children draw pictures for their supporters from time to time, which we then hand over in person or send home. In addition, we are happy to send photos so that you can see for yourself that Kenyan children are also growing up.
